Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Department Head for Internal Medicine to lead the operations of the Internal Medicine Medical staff in the Northern Zone. The successful candidate will report to the Zone Medical Executive Director and be responsible for ensuring that department members are compliant with the Bylaws and Rules and regulations of the NSHA.
The Department Head will provide leadership to the Internal Medicine site specialty leads, oversee the provision of internal medicine services across the Northern Zone, and work with Specialty Site Leads to ensure service continuity is maintained through Department scheduling practices.
Responsibilities- Ensure that department members are compliant with the Bylaws and Rules and regulations of the NSHA.
- Hold regular department meetings and provide the Zone Medical Executive Director with meeting minutes.
- Attend relevant committee meetings as assigned by the Medical Executive Director.
- Work with Specialty Site Leads to ensure service continuity is maintained through Department scheduling practices.
- Participate in the monitoring of standards, quality, and utilization of resources of the department in the zone.
- Provide Performance management for all department members.
- Provide complaint and discipline management for department members.
- Supports the research agenda within the department.
- Participate in any clinical services planning for the Zone/NSHA.
- Leads recruitment/retention for the department for the Zone.
- Ensures that new hire and onboarding processes are completed with support from the Specialty Site Lead as required.
- Participate in Leadership development.
- MD (with College Certification in Internal Medicine) licensed in Nova Scotia.
- Evidence of past and ongoing leadership training.
Annual Compensation: $50, - $52,
