Job Title: Construction Site Supervisor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Site Supervisor to join our team at AV Homes Ltd.

Job Summary:

The Construction Site Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the construction process, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This is a key role that requires strong leadership and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with a team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of construction teams to ensure projects are completed on time and to budget.
  • Ensure that all construction activities are carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Coordinate and schedule activities to ensure efficient use of resources and minimize delays.
  • Recommend personnel actions, including hiring, training, and disciplinary measures.
  • Requisition or order materials, equipment, and supplies as needed.
  • Lead and instruct individuals to ensure that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Supervise a team of 1-2 people.
  • Ensure that all necessary tools and equipment are available and in good working order.
  • Participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and/or refugees.
  • Assist with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and/or refugees, such as housing, transportation, and storage.
  • Support social and labour market integration of newcomers and/or refugees, including facilitating access to community resources, language training, and skills training.
  • Recruit newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster.
  • Support newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition.
  • Offer mentorship programs that pair newcomers and/or refugees with experienced employees.
  • Provide diversity and cross-cultural trainings to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and/or refugees.
  • Participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports youth employment.
  • Offer on-the-job training tailored to youth.
  • Offer mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for youth.
  • Provide awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for youth.
  • Participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports Indigenous people.
  • Offer mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses, and organizations.
  • Provide cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers.
  • Facilitate access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers.
Requirements:
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • 7 months to less than 1 year of experience.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Organized and reliable.
  • Team player.
Work Environment:

The Construction Site Supervisor will work outdoors, in a noisy and dusty environment, at heights, and in a construction setting.

Personal Suitability:

The ideal candidate will have excellent oral communication skills, be organized and reliable, and be a team player.
