- Financial Transactions: Process billing for WCB, ICBC, MSP, and private insurance companies.
- Event Coordination: Coordinate flu clinics, arrange student/staff appointments, and schedule community-based nurses or health practitioners.
- Record Keeping: Compile confidential records, reports, statistics, and charts.
- Medical Documentation: Process confidential medical documentation for students entering programs with medical prerequisites.
- Appointment Scheduling: Arrange appointments and liaise with health agencies, medical specialists, x-rays, laboratory, or hospital.
- Clerical Support: Provide support to the Health Care Team in coordinating programs promoting health awareness within the TRU population.
- Clinical Procedures: Assist the Campus Physician with clinical procedures, such as sterilization of medical tools/equipment and preparing equipment for use.
- Testing and Record Keeping: Perform and record confidential routine tests, such as pregnancy, urine, blood pressure, and vision.
- Financial Reconciliation: Reconcile weekly cash reports and forward to the Finance department.
- Facilities Maintenance: Clean and tidy the First Aid room and Examination rooms.
- Supply Management: Order and maintain office and medical supplies.
- Student Coordination: Coordinate the work of work-study students.
- Emergency Response: Locate students in emergency situations.
- Education: Grade 12 plus a Medical Office Assistant Certificate or equivalent.
- Experience: Two years related experience in a physician's office, community medical clinic, or a hospital medical clerical unit.
- Skills: Ability to perform word processing at 45 wpm, maintain confidentiality, deal with students, staff, and the public, operate office equipment, and have practical working knowledge of routine patient care treatments.
- Working Conditions: Work in close proximity to patients and Health Centre staff, perform front counter work, and work at a computer for long periods.
