Job Summary

Interior Health Authority is seeking a Clinical Information Specialist to support the development of systems that promote clinical practice. The successful candidate will work with Program Directors and Managers to evaluate, plan, implement, and maintain computerized clinical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with clinical professionals to assess and identify needs within clinical practice areas.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to other analysts on clinical practice issues related to technology.
  • Apply clinical expertise to participate in decision-making and policy development concerning healthcare technology.
  • Participate in clinical committees to develop and share knowledge that supports clinicians in using technology.
  • Support the development of the electronic health record by identifying opportunities for electronic health information capture and distribution.
  • Provide input to the Director, Managers, and Coordinators of the IMIT department for project and capital budgets.
  • Participate in the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of computerized patient care systems.
  • Provide ongoing support for clinical users for operational computer applications.
  • Develop requests for modifications and/or enhancements for clinical applications.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
  • Advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of the assigned portfolio, supplemented by courses in computer software technology.
  • Three years of recent related clinical experience in the assigned practice environment and two years of recent supervisory and teaching experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid B.C. Driver's License.
