**About the Position**

We are seeking an experienced Drainage Expert to join our team at the City of Hamilton. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and contribute to the development of our water management systems.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support services in the implementation of the Right-of-Way Drainage Program. This includes investigating drainage concerns, reviewing engineering drawings, and preparing permit applications for drainage-related works.

About the Role:

This is a key position within the Roadway Maintenance Division, reporting directly to the Project Manager. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in drainage management, hydrology, and hydraulics, as well as experience working with computer-aided design (CAD) software and geographic information systems (GIS).

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate drainage concerns and develop solutions to mitigate flooding or water conveyance problems
  • Review and evaluate the performance of existing roadway drainage infrastructure
  • Prepare permit applications for drainage-related works and liaise with Conservation Authorities
  • Develop and maintain a computerized database of drainage infrastructure
  • Provide technical support services to field staff and other internal departments
  • Research and recommend new technologies and methodologies to improve field maintenance operations

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong understanding of drainage management principles and practices, as well as excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills. You will also need to be proficient in CAD software, GIS, and Microsoft Office.
