Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Management Specialist to join our team at the Manitoba Government. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with strong project management skills to provide leadership and technical direction to our Major Projects team.

About the Role

The Senior Project Management Specialist will be responsible for managing, planning, and coordinating the delivery of major capital projects. You will provide engineering expertise, guidance, and supervision to internal and external project staff, including professional engineers and other technical staff.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage and provide sound leadership, planning, coordination, and financial accountability for major projects capital portfolio.
  • Provide engineering expertise, guidance, and supervision to internal and external project staff.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with diverse work groups and contacts.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Analyze policies and programs to determine feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and consistency with established departmental policy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and registration as a Professional Engineer with the Engineers Geoscientists of Manitoba (EGM).
  • Appropriate scope-of-practice in linear infrastructure such as highways, water-related infrastructure, and/or bridges.
  • Extensive experience in project management, design, construction, contract management, and managing interdisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent consultation, negotiation, and conflict management skills.
  • Strong planning, research, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet competing deadlines.

Desired Qualifications

  • Proficiency with project management software.

Working Conditions

This position requires working on construction sites, therefore, you must be able to meet the physical demands of the job.

Salary Range

$85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
