Job Title: Tile Setter
Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Tile Setter to join our team at Goodwood General Contracting. As a Tile Setter, you will be responsible for preparing, measuring, and marking surfaces to be covered, mixing and applying adhesives, and setting tiles in place.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare surfaces to be covered by cleaning, scraping, and applying a layer of adhesive.
- Mix and apply adhesives to surfaces, using a variety of tools and techniques.
- Set tiles in place, using a combination of manual and mechanical tools.
- Align and straighten tiles to ensure a precise fit.
- Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings, using hand and power cutting tools.
- Pack grout into joints between tiles and remove excess grout.
- Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles.
- Lay and set mosaic tiles to create decorative wall, mural, and floor designs.
- Build underbeds and install anchor bolts, wires, and brackets.
- Cut, surface, polish, and install marble and granite.
- Estimate costs and materials for tile installations.
Work Environment: This is a physically demanding role that requires working at heights, in dusty environments, and handling heavy loads. You will be required to work on-site, often in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements: To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong attention to detail, excellent manual dexterity, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. You will also need to be physically fit and able to lift heavy loads.
