Job Title: Tile Setter

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Tile Setter to join our team at Goodwood General Contracting. As a Tile Setter, you will be responsible for preparing, measuring, and marking surfaces to be covered with tile. You will also mix, apply, and spread mortar, cement, mastic, glue, or other adhesives using a hand trowel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, measure, and mark surfaces to be covered with tile
  • Mix, apply, and spread mortar, cement, mastic, glue, or other adhesives using a hand trowel
  • Prepare rough plans and sketches
  • Set tiles in place and apply pressure to affix them to the base
  • Align and straighten tiles
  • Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings using hand and power cutting tools
  • Pack grout into joints between tiles and remove excess grout
  • Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles
  • Lay and set mosaic tiles to create decorative wall, mural, and floor designs
  • Build underbeds and install anchor bolts, wires, and brackets
  • Cut, surface, polish, and install marble and granite
  • Estimate costs and materials
  • Install tile strips

Work Environment:

This is a physically demanding role that requires handling heavy loads, bending, crouching, and kneeling. You will work on various job sites, including on-the-road jobs, and will be required to work 30-40 hours per week.

Requirements:

  • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to lift heavy loads and work at heights
