Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Geriatric Nurse Clinician to join our team at Surrey Memorial Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide expert clinical care to acutely ill older adults, utilizing evidence-informed practice to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and expertise in gerontological nursing, collaborating with the interprofessional team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Conduct comprehensive gerontological nursing assessments, recognizing the altered presentation of acute conditions in older adults and intervening as needed.
  • Role model direct patient care skills to staff and students, coaching and mentoring to ensure quality of care.
  • Develop and revise education tools and plans to meet the learning needs of staff and patients, utilizing evidence-based practice and educational theories.
  • Participate in quality improvement and risk management activities, evaluating the effectiveness of changes in practice and making recommendations for improvement.
Requirements
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
  • Three years of recent related clinical experience in acute gerontological nursing, including one year of education and/or leadership experience.
  • Completion of post-graduate coursework and/or certification applicable to gerontological nursing.
