Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Construction Equipment Operator to join our team at Border Paving Ltd. as a Road Building Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating heavy equipment, such as asphalt pavers and graders, to construct and maintain roads and highways.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment, including asphalt pavers, graders, and other road-building machinery.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, including lubricating and refilling tanks.
  • Utilize material safety data sheets (MSDS) to ensure safe handling and use of materials.
  • Complete onboard and other logs to track equipment usage and maintenance.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Participate in the preparation of accident reports and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Secure special attachments to equipment and operate two-way radios and other communication equipment.
  • Perform minor repairs to equipment and monitor safety conditions.
Requirements
  • 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent training in heavy equipment operation.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment with attention to detail.
  • Fast-paced environment with overtime required.
  • Ability to handle heavy loads up to 50 lbs.
  • Work outdoors in dusty, noisy conditions with exposure to traffic and other hazards.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills.
