Job Title: Laborer

Job Summary:

Mainline Construction is seeking a skilled Laborer to provide physical labor support during all phases of construction and production. The ideal candidate will possess excellent physical abilities, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to ensuring a safe and efficient worksite.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Load, unload, and move construction materials around the worksite, ensuring timely delivery and efficient use of resources.
  • Manually remove large rocks and debris turned up by graders and other heavy equipment, maintaining a clear and safe working environment.
  • Execute traffic control plans by placing, removing, covering, and uncovering traffic control signs, cones, barricades, and other traffic control devices, directing traffic when necessary.
  • Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials, promoting a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Using a rake or shovel, spread gravel and other construction materials for padding or setting concrete structures, ensuring a high-quality finish.
  • Shovel around live utilities to expose them without damaging them, demonstrating a commitment to safety and precision.
  • Operate equipment, such as pneumatic hammers, vibrators, tampers, and skid steers, as required, showcasing versatility and adaptability.
  • Perform other construction and general labor-related duties as required, demonstrating a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or G.E.D. is preferred, demonstrating a strong foundation in education and a commitment to lifelong learning.
  • A Class 5 driver's license is required, ensuring safe and efficient transportation of personnel and equipment.
  • Heavy civil construction or labor experience is an asset, showcasing a proven track record of success in a related field.
  • The ideal candidate must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 40 lbs. on a regular basis, demonstrating a strong physical presence and ability to perform demanding tasks.
