Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Supervisor to supervise unionized automotive manufacturing workforce. The main function of a production supervisor is to supervise and coordinate the activities of production and operating workers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise hourly employees to meet daily safety, quality and throughput metrics. Maintain hourly payroll and update business metrics daily.
  • Recommend measures to motivate workers and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.
  • Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.
  • Develop and implement production tracking and quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, and maintenance to detect production problems.
  • Hire, train, evaluate, and discharge staff, and resolve personal grievances.
  • Prepare and maintain production reports and personnel records.

Requirements

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experiences:

  • 3+ years of supervisor experience in manufacturing field.
  • Be able to work independently meeting production demands.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Be able to explain job expectations, monitor and evaluate team and individual performance.
  • Process driven with strong skills on coaching, teamwork and building relationships.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
  • Proficient in MS Office skills.

Preferred Skills and Experiences

Experience working in automotive manufacturing.

Experience working in GM factories.

Trouble shooting experience with robots.

Supervisor experience in a union environment.

Education and Training

High school diploma or GED required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred.
