Job Title: Assistant Director of Care

At Extendicare Canada Inc., we are committed to delivering high-quality care and services to seniors throughout Canada. We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Assistant Director of Care to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Care will provide leadership and guidance to the personal care staff, ensuring that residents receive high-quality care in accordance with the standards of practice. This role will also be responsible for implementing and evaluating quality improvement initiatives, risk management systems, and data collection and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Director of Care in implementing and evaluating quality improvement initiatives, risk management systems, and data collection and analysis.
  • Take the lead in coordinating and implementing best practice and risk management initiatives related to resident care.
  • Effectively manage the utilization of nursing supplies.
  • Responsible for the High Intensity Needs program.
  • Maintain a system of care assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation at the resident and unit program level.
  • Support the RAI-MDS program.
  • Maintain an active presence in the resident home areas, mentoring staff while overseeing the provision of quality resident care.
  • Initiate investigative and corrective actions related to occupational health and safety.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Care on special projects, reviews, and other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Registered Nurse registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in long-term care, with previous management experience an asset.
  • Current knowledge of clinical issues for geriatric residents, infection control, principles of adult education, and quality improvement.
  • Knowledge of RAI MDS is required.
