Indigenous Early Childhood Education Instructor

Established in 1976, the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) is a First Nation-governed post-secondary institution recognized under provincial legislation. With a strong commitment to Indigenous education, SIIT welcomes over 2400 students into our urban and community programs annually, serving over 6000 clients through our nine Career Centres across the province.
Job Summary:We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Instructor to deliver six online courses of Indigenous Early Childhood Education Level III programming. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising one practicum placement, attending land-based activities with students, and guiding select students through the Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) process.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver six online courses of Indigenous Early Childhood Education Level III programming, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Supervise one practicum placement, providing guidance and support to students.
- Attend land-based activities with students, fostering a deeper understanding of Indigenous cultures and traditions.
- Guide select students through the PLAR process, assessing previously gained knowledge and competencies.
- Develop and maintain all course-related materials, including evaluations, attendance records, and course evaluations.
- Incorporate digital literacy within all aspects of the program, where applicable.
- Make recommendations to modify course objectives, course outlines, curriculum, and evaluation procedures, where applicable.
- Keep current and relevant in applicable teaching areas, educational standards, industry trends, and best practices.
- Assist with the planning and coordination of other employment preparation skill-building certificate training.
- Maintain program data and complete reports in a timely manner.
- Provide career information and assist participants with identifying their skills and strengths in a portfolio.
- Apply strength-based approaches to facilitate the social competence of participants.
- Adhere to and promote SIIT policies and procedures.
- Provide assistance in locating practicum placements.
- Bachelor of Education degree or Level III ECE Certification required.
- Two years of related experience in facilitating or teaching, with knowledge of local and provincial labour markets, educational institutes, and community resources.
- Experience in assessing and counseling First Nation adults is considered an asset.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office suite of programs is required.

This position will work remotely and have irregular working hours during the evening and weekends. This program will be facilitated online for students through our learning management system. In-person attendance will be required for land-based activities.
