Instructor for Indigenous Early Childhood Education

Established in 1976, the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) is a First Nation-governed post-secondary institution recognized under provincial legislation. With a strong commitment to Indigenous education, SIIT welcomes over 2400 students into our urban and community programs annually, serving over 6000 clients through our nine Career Centres across the province.
Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Instructor for Indigenous Early Childhood Education to join our team. As a key member of our Academics department, you will play a primary role in planning and facilitating Indigenous Early Childhood Education (INECE) Level 1 to ensure successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, coordinate, deliver, and facilitate all program components for lower literacy adult learners, focusing on essential skills and knowledge transferability to future employment experiences and career choices in Early Childhood Education.
- Create a positive learning environment that guides and ensures each student's success, keeping current with developments in subject areas, resources, and methods.
- Deliver a specific program according to community, funding agency, or employer needs, working collaboratively with Academic staff and community contacts.
- Network and build relationships with employment agencies, networks, and employers in the community, researching existing employment and volunteer opportunities.
- Link students to work placements or volunteer opportunities, planning a project in collaboration with students to facilitate workplace skills development.
- A two-year post-secondary diploma in Education, Social Services, or relevant education and experience related to Early Childhood Education or a Bachelor's degree in Education with at least two years of related experience in facilitating or teaching.
- Experience in assessing and counseling First Nation adults is considered an asset, as well as knowledge of First Nations cultures and organizations.
- Strong commitment to helping students learn and succeed, with an understanding of adult learning theories and principles.
- Flexible and Adaptable, Effective Communication, Relationship Building, Results Oriented, Student Focus, Communication (Instructional), Knowledge and Expertise, Teamwork.
This is an online teaching position, requiring the instructor to teach through a Learning Management system called Brightspace. The successful candidate will be required to provide a cleared criminal record check with vulnerable sector check upon hire.
