About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic Apprentice to join our team at McDowell Equipment. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing heavy-duty equipment, including trucks and machinery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and Inspect Equipment: Use computerized and other testing equipment to detect faults and malfunctions in heavy-duty equipment.
  • Diagnose and Repair Faults: Diagnose faults or malfunctions and repair or replace defective parts as needed.
  • Perform Maintenance Work: Clean, lubricate, and perform other maintenance work on heavy-duty equipment.
  • Service Attachments and Tools: Service attachments and working tools, including hydraulic-operated working attachments and compressors.
  • Verify and Repair Emission Control Systems: Verify and repair emission control systems on heavy-duty equipment.
Requirements
  • Education: Other trades certificate or diploma.
  • Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in heavy-duty equipment maintenance.
  • Certifications: Agricultural Equipment Technician Red Seal Certificate, Driver's License (Class 3 or D), and Truck and Coach Service Licence (310T).
  • Physical Demands: Physically demanding work environment, requiring bending, crouching, kneeling, and handling heavy loads.
