Job Title: Part Time Case Worker Evening

Job Summary: We are seeking a Part Time Case Worker Evening to join our team at The Salvation Army. As a Case Worker, you will be responsible for providing support and guidance to clients in need, working closely with our team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an active caseload and provide support to clients in need.
  • Complete intakes and assessments on each resident, providing a comprehensive understanding of their needs and circumstances.
  • Provide problem-solving and referral counseling to shelter and CRF clients, connecting them with the resources they need to succeed.
  • Develop and implement interview schedules to evaluate the effectiveness of our programs and services.
  • Assist front desk personnel as needed, responding to client issues and crises in a timely and professional manner.
  • Record activities and incidents occurring during the shift in a factual and concise manner, using Log Book and/or Incident Occurrence Reports.
  • Contact emergency service personnel when necessary, ensuring the safety and well-being of our clients and staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality with regard to clients, staff, and Centre records, upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
  • Work closely with and carry out tasks assigned by your supervisor, demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and collaboration.

Working Conditions:

This is a permanent, part-time position with 15 hours per week. Flexibility in scheduling is required, with shifts determined in consultation with your supervisor. Applicable shifts include a 1⁄2 hour unpaid meal break.

Shifts: Saturday and Sunday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • University/College diploma in Social Service and/or combination of education and related life experience.
  • Possess current First Aid, CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certificates.
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of community-based resources.

Skills and Capabilities:

  • Competent on word processing equipment, such as Windows XP, Microsoft Office, Excel.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with socially disadvantaged people who may often harbor resentment and anger.
  • Ability to work with federal release clients to develop and carry out a life plan.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and implement goals and plans for self and clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and under supervision.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to forty pounds.
  • The Enhanced Reliability Screening with Corrections Canada is required.
  • Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening.
  • Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
