Job Title: Research and Policy Analyst

The Manitoba Association of Friendship Centres (MAFC) is seeking a highly skilled Research and Policy Analyst to support the needs of the Association and its member Friendship Centres in Manitoba.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will provide research and policy support to the Executive Director, focusing on research priorities, policy development, and partnership work with the University of Winnipeg's NEIHR program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement research and policy workplans in collaboration with the Board of Directors, Policy and Constitution Committee, and Executive Director.
  • Conduct research, surveys, analyses, and compile data to inform policy decisions.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, including Friendship Centre Executive Directors, National Association of Friendship Centres (NAFC) Data Strategy, and University of Winnipeg NEIHR Grant partnership.
  • Provide technical support to MAFC Committees and working groups.
  • Attend meetings on behalf of the Association as required.
  • Prepare briefing notes, meeting reports, and generate reports and data analysis.
  • Maintain program records and create reports and proposals as needed.
  • Support program growth and strategies for program development.
  • Ensure implementation of MAFC program policies and practices.
  • Manage related communications and assist with office administration.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of research and policy development, with a focus on Indigenous issues.
  • Understanding of budgeting, bookkeeping, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ability to work with diverse, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Leadership and organizational skills, with excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to take accurate meeting minutes as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary degree in political studies, political science, social sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience in policy creation and amendment, with a focus on Indigenous policy.
