About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Horticulture Professor to join our team at Loyalist College. As a part-time Professor, you will be responsible for teaching and facilitating courses within our horticulture programming.

With a flexible schedule and ability to teach in-person classes, you will deliver engaging and effective instruction to students, incorporating a variety of teaching, learning and assessment strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach courses using best practices and adult education principles.
  • Develop and implement course curricula that are current, relevant, and reflective of best practices within the relevant professional/program disciplines.
  • Create an effective learning environment that accommodates students' diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles.
  • Assess student achievement of learning outcomes and support student progress through individual tutoring, academic counselling, and timely feedback.
  • Liaise effectively with internal and external partners to create and maintain a collaborative and relevant learning environment.
Qualifications
  • Horticultural Technician Certificate of Qualification 441 C (preferred).
  • Minimum of Three (3) years working experience in the horticulture sector.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following aspects of the Horticultural Technical Apprenticeship standards: hardscape installation and maintenance, softscape (plans and turf) installation and maintenance, plant anatomy and morphology, soil and water environmental stewardship, or plant sciences is required.
  • Experience teaching at the post-secondary level (preferred).
  • A proven commitment to achieving and developing excellence in others.
