About the Role
This position involves conducting on-site visual assessments, investigations, and reviews of various building systems, including roof, envelope, structural, and architectural components. You will also utilize proprietary software for data collection and reporting.
You will independently review drawings for quantity take-offs and prepare multi-discipline building condition assessments, reserve fund studies, capital planning projects, technical/building audits, or other investigative reports complete with observations, conclusions, recommendations, and repair budgets.
Responsibilities include maintaining high product quality, ensuring draft documents meet project manager expectations, and managing time and project costs to ensure project profitability.
Requirements
- Certified Building Technologist in Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural, Civil/Structural, or Building Science related programs or relevant College/University degrees.
- Related facility and/or building construction experience (five years or more).
- A valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle for travel to project sites (work-related mileage is reimbursed).
- Strong computer skills, including web-based application experience for report writing.
- Excellent technical writing skills, organizational and time management skills, and effective communication skills.
- Knowledge of building components, including describing and providing replacement costing, as well as basic knowledge of building and fire codes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required; proficiency in Capital Planning software is considered an asset.
