Quality Control Specialist

Job Summary & Responsibilities
We're seeking a skilled Lab Technician to join our team in Camrose, Alberta. This position is responsible for operating laboratory and mechanical testing equipment, including bend testers, hardness testers, cutting saws, sample polishers, and microscopes.
- Operate laboratory and mechanical testing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Cut steel plate and pipe samples using oxy-fuel, plasma torch, and CNC robot plasma cutter.
- Prepare and identify samples accurately and clearly, and forward them to the lab for testing.
- Follow detailed testing procedures and record findings as per documented guidelines, communicating results with stakeholders.
- Assist the Mechanical Tester with day-to-day duties as required.
- Collaborate with all departments to meet business needs.
Requirements
- Mechanical testing experience is required.
- Knowledge of ASTM, API, ASME, NACE, and other testing requirements is preferred.
- Ability to read and follow detailed technical procedures.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a strong attention to detail.
- Strong data entry skills, including alpha and numeric entry in multiple programs.
- Collaborate with multiple stakeholders internally and externally to meet departmental needs.
- Strong math skills.
- Experience operating equipment and machinery, including lathes, band saws, and milling machines.
- Oxy-fuel cutting, plasma cutting, and CNC operation experience.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds and work in an environment subject to fluctuations in heat, humidity, fumes, odors, dust, and noise.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including overtime on short notice.
