About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Staff Accountant to join our team at Staffing In Motion. In this role, you will be responsible for providing full-cycle accounting and tax services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements, tax returns, and supporting schedules for investment holding companies, small Canadian operating companies, trusts, and charitable foundations.
  • Review general ledgers, prepare reconciliation reports, and prepare journal entries and working papers.
  • Prepare quarterly family office reporting, including net worth statements, investment portfolio details, and quarterly performance reports.
  • Calculate Capital Dividend Account (CDA) balances, General Rate Income Pool (GRIP) balances, and Refundable Dividend Tax on Hand (RDTOH) balances.
  • Prepare T1 personal tax, T2 corporation tax, T3 interim tax, and T5 returns.
  • Prepare T3010 charity returns and GST/HST returns.
  • Prepare paralegal corporation minutes and resolutions.
  • Prepare and file T4 summary and supplementary forms, including payroll calculations, records of employment, and remittance of at-source deductions.
  • Calculate tax estimates and annual tax instalments and coordinate remittances to respective governments.
  • Review Notices of Assessment and respond to government Requests for Information (RFI).
  • Communicate with clients and third parties regarding preparing or gathering information and concerning remittances, instalments, progress of files, inquiries.

Requirements

  • CPA designation with a minimum of 3 years of experience in full-cycle accounting.
  • Public accounting experience including the preparation of Canadian personal/corporate tax returns and the compilation of Financial Statements.
  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian GAAP.
  • Full-cycle Canadian accounting experience.
  • Advanced computer skills: modeling using Microsoft Excel (MACROS) and MS Outlook VBA.
  • Experienced with accounting and tax software applications: Tax Prep (T1, T2, T3), Caseview, QuickBooks, Quicken, and Write-up.
  • Proven ability to analyze problems and prepare effective written and oral reports; communicate clearly and concisely with clients; self-starter and team player able to work independently and collaboratively with various teams in a deadline-focused environment.
