Job Summary

This permanent, full-time position is available in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing analytical tests and procedures, utilizing appropriate methodologies and quality assurance techniques. This role requires strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills to work independently in emergency and weekend/night situations.

About the Opportunity

The Medical Laboratory Technologist performs various laboratory tests and procedures, including manual and automated testing, using computer-integrated instruments and networked systems. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with healthcare professionals.

Requirements

To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must be graduates from an approved Medical Laboratory Technologist program, licensed with NSCMLT or eligible, and registered with CSMLS. A willingness to work shiftwork, travel when required, and possess competencies in other languages (French preferred) are also essential.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $30.83 - $37.54 per hour. Successful candidates may be eligible for our comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
