Job Title:

General Duty Nurse

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated General Duty Nurse to join our team at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. As a General Duty Nurse, you will be responsible for providing professional nursing services to patients with complex and unpredictable health needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide independent nursing services to patients, including administration of prescribed medical treatments.
  • Lead the healthcare team and facilitate coordination of patient care and discharge.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient progress, making adjustments to care plans as needed.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing education program.
  • Current orthopedic trauma experience preferred.
  • One year acute surgical or orthopedic nursing experience is preferred.
  • Active participation in professional associations, such as the Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba, is preferred.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses.
  • Knowledge of the Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
  • Knowledge of Regional/Facility/Unit policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Nursing care knowledge related to clinical area.
  • Knowledge of Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions) and other legislated acts.
