Job Title: General Manager/Executive Director

Halifax Water is seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Manager/Executive Director to lead our organization in providing world-class services to our customers and the environment.

With a mission to provide clean water to our customers and safely transfer it back to its source, we are proud to steward the water cycle of the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM).

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and establish a strong foundation of trust and credibility with the Halifax Water team.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement high-quality business strategies and plans that align with short and long-term objectives.
  • Develop and oversee annual capital and operating plans and budgets.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including Boards, regulators, government representatives, elected officials, developers, consultants, community leaders, and residents.
Requirements
  • Strong track record of executive leadership experience in a complex, unionized, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Exceptional communication and people skills, combined with high emotional intelligence.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to digest and distill complex technical, financial, and operational information.
  • Customer service-focused and understanding of financial management processes and business systems necessary to successfully operate a regulated utility.
