About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team at WSP Canada. As a Project Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting Canadian and international projects in the fast-growing energy economy.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Project Planning and Execution

Plan, schedule, and estimate design engineering effort on projects from conception to issue of all drawings and specifications for construction.

Cost Estimation and Risk Management

Prepare and/or review cost estimates, schedules, risk assessments, and elements of project design.

Project Strategy and Coordination

Implement project strategy to ensure key issues are identified early and to ensure project goals of quality, schedule, and cost are achieved.

Design Review and Approval

Review and approve all designs to ensure conformity with project specifications, project scope, company practices, and sound engineering practices.

Technical Coordination and Support

Provide coordination to discipline and support development of their deliverables.

Engineering Control Documents

Preparing and updating engineering control documents.

Design Changes and Contract Extras

Monitor design changes, contract extras, and support development of change orders.

Client Communication

Main technical contact with the client making recommendations on highly technical and complex aspects of WSP projects.

Mentorship and Training

Coach and mentor junior engineers in the development of their skills and training.

Professional Designation

Required to provide professional designation on projects you are engaged in.

Technical Deliverables

Develop technical drawings and deliverables such as P&IDs, Line List & DBMs and authentication of deliverables.

Scope of Work and Specifications

Develop Scope of Work or Specifications for Mechanical Packaged Equipment.

Quality Control and Assurance

Maintaining quality control and quality assurance on projects.

Work Review and Approval

Responsible for reviewing the work of others.

Requirements
  1. Education and Experience

Graduate in Engineering. P.Eng. or P.Tech. designation.

Industry Experience

7 - 10 years of previous experience in an EPCM environment in the energy industry with 3-5 years direct project engineering experience.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, act as the main contact with the client.

Project Coordination and Management

Coordinate meetings, create project status reports, and communicate the project status to different groups, including clients.

Time Management and Adaptability

Proven ability to produce high quality work while facing competing priorities and strict deadlines.

Problem-Solving and Decision-Making

Ability to prioritize activities, adapt to change, and stay focused in a dynamic environment.

Technical Knowledge and Skills

Demonstrated skills on concept and developed design optimization programs to guide sound technical guidance for decision making.

Compliance and Confidentiality

Knows, understands, and complies with all client and corporate procedures.

Sensitivity and Discretion

Demonstrate sensitivity and discretion when working with confidential information.
