We are currently seeking a Registered Practical Nurse/Wellness Nurse for a full-time or part-time position in the Greater Sudbury Area.
Job Requirements:
- Graduate from an approved School of Nursing (Registered Practical Nursing Program) or Registered Nursing Program with a current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Theoretical and applied knowledge of the Practice Standards set out by the Ontario College of Nurses
- Must have relevant experience working within full scope of practice, including medication administration, within the last two (2) years
- Completion of RPN standardization (all modules) required. (HSN requirement)
- Ministry of Labour Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps training certificate is required
Key Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Meditech, Client Service OE, and GRASP software
- Capable of practicing within the full scope of an RPN/RN, including medication administration
- Knowledgeable about community support services, home and community care, rehabilitative services, adult day programs, and other social services
- Effective team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to work cooperatively with staff, patients, physicians, volunteers, and the public
- Skilled in using patient care equipment
- Familiar with Ontario Hospital Association/Medical Association Communicable Disease Surveillance Protocols
- Able to prioritize tasks efficiently
- Compliant with HSN's privacy policy and committed to the safety of coworkers and patients
- Works well independently and under pressure
- Relates well to staff, residents, and families with patience, tolerance, and confidentiality
- Maintains a positive work and attendance record
- Uses tact and discretion with healthcare providers and employees
- Committed to ongoing professional development and handles confidential issues professionally
- Capable of meeting the physical and sensory demands of the job
- Empathetic and understanding of the needs of the elderly and disabled
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (within 6 months of employment start date) and TB testing required
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
