The Orthoptist plays a vital role in assessing, evaluating, and treating disorders of binocular vision, visual development, and ocular motility. This includes conducting tests such as strabismus evaluation, visual acuity testing, stereoacuity testing, and oculomotor motility assessments. The successful candidate will work with pediatric and adult patients referred by ophthalmologists or neurologists and provide comprehensive reports to referring physicians.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate patient referrals and conduct thorough assessments
- Develop and implement treatment plans for orthoptic patients
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Provide education and instruction to patients and their families
- Graduate of an accredited Orthoptics/Ophthalmic Medical Technologists program
- Certification as an orthoptist by the Canadian Orthoptic Council
- Excellent organizational, time management, stress management, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities and work independently
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
$34.68 - $43.80 Hourly
The successful candidate will be eligible for our benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
