About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Claims Specialist to join our Specialty Claims team at Intact Financial Corporation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate and maintain complex defence and coverage claims in Specialty Lines.
  • Manage class actions and extraordinary matters.
  • Anticipate internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues; recommend process, product or service improvements.
  • Collaborate with Underwriting, including with business development efforts.
  • Conduct coverage analysis. Handle complex coverage issues, draft reservation of rights and denial letters.
  • Participate in settlement conferences, mediations, pre-trial and hearings.
  • Initiate reserve movements, approve settlements and process payments within established authorization levels.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, training, support and guidance to various key stakeholders and team members.

Requirements

  • University degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role.
  • 5-10 years exposure within the Claims, Legal, Finance, Business industries is an asset.
  • Effective verbal communication skills, with experience in interviewing, coaching others, and dealing with clients.
  • Superior written communications skills to draft claims reports and file-related correspondence.
  • Specialized industry experience.
  • Passionate about customer service.
  • A great, empathetic, rational communicator.
  • Curious, adaptable and an industrious person.
  • Project management and change management skills.
  • Can build relationships based on trust and collaboration.
