Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Mental Health Worker to join our team at Neskantaga Education Authority. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing mental health support to students and staff at the Neskantaga Education Centre.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement mental health programs and strategies to support student success and academic achievement.
  • Provide individual and group counseling services to students, as needed.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to promote a positive and supportive school environment.
  • Conduct assessments and develop plans to address mental health concerns and needs of students.
  • Provide training and support to teachers and staff on mental health issues and strategies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and resources to support student mental health.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in school mental health.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Social Work, School Psychology, or related field.
  • Experience working with First Nation youth and communities.
  • Understanding of mental health issues and strategies for supporting student success.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a team environment.
  • Fluency in Ojibway or Oji-Cree is an asset.
