Digital Forensics and Cybersecurity Consultant

Charles River Associates is a leading global consulting firm seeking a highly skilled Digital Forensics and Cybersecurity Consultant to join our team. As a key member of our cyber due diligence, incident response, insurance claims, and security transformation teams, you will play a critical role in helping clients navigate complex cybersecurity challenges.
Job DescriptionThe successful candidate will assist with security and privacy investigations in response to data security matters, including ongoing breaches and fraud. They will engage in problem-solving and forensic analysis of digital information using standard computer forensic and evidence handling techniques and tools.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with security and privacy investigations in response to data security matters;
- Engaging in problem-solving and forensic analysis of digital information;
- Applying investigative techniques, scientific reasoning, and digital forensic techniques against various systems;
- Identifying, researching, and organizing information to determine the impact of a hacker on a compromised system;
- Defensibly collecting digital evidence and completing chain-of-custody documentation;
- Leveraging programming skills, including Python, T-SQL, VBA, Excel, C#, and/or other programming languages and tools;
- Communicating with team members, clients, and other professionals to share investigative and analytical findings;
- Working closely with business stakeholders and experts to develop new and innovative tools to support the evolving forensic landscape;
- Staying current with developments in digital forensics, e-discovery, and incident response.
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, candidates must possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree graduating December 2024/Summer 2025 in Cybersecurity, Computer Science and Engineering, Digital Forensics, Management Information Systems, Security Information Systems, or related field.
Candidates should have a strong understanding of computer operating systems, software, and hardware, as well as experience with conducting detailed forensic investigations and analyses of computers, networks, mobile devices, and removable media.
Experience with conducting digital forensic analyses using commercial and open-source forensic tools, including file system forensics, memory analysis, and network analysis, is also required.
A preferred qualification is individual experience with utilizing automation tools and scripts to expedite analyses, as well as an understanding of common attack techniques used by an adversary on a victim network and how to leverage those techniques to stop further adversary activity.
We are looking for candidates with effective written and oral communication skills, demonstrated high-level initiative and leadership, strong teamwork and collaboration capabilities, excellent time management and task prioritization skills, and a clear interest in consulting.
