Job Summary

The University of Waterloo is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Security Officer to join our team. As a Security Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce laws and regulations on University property, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all members of the university community.
  • Respond to emergency situations, including incidents of crime, accidents, and medical emergencies.
  • Conduct regular patrols of University property, identifying potential security risks and taking proactive measures to mitigate them.
  • Investigate incidents and prepare reports, providing detailed information to support decision-making and incident response.
  • Provide excellent customer service, responding to inquiries and concerns from students, faculty, and staff.
  • Collaborate with other emergency services, including police and fire departments, to ensure a coordinated response to emergencies.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a recognized police college or academy, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Current standard level of first aid certification and basic rescuer level CPR.
  • Valid Ontario G class driver's license or higher, with an acceptable driving history.
  • Previous experience in a police or security environment, an asset.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • Physical fitness and psychological testing, part of the selection process.
