Job Summary

Alttechnical is seeking a highly skilled System Support Specialist to join our team in Ottawa. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our computer systems and networks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to monitoring alerts and customer-initiated tickets in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, escalating critical issues to designated support teams within SLA guidelines.
  • Document, track, and monitor problems to ensure timely resolution and maintain accurate records.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and technical support to internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor internal platforms using monitoring tools and maintain a high level of technical expertise.
  • Manage assigned schedules, including maintenance windows, to ensure minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Stay up-to-date on operational activities by regularly accessing and reading NOC communications, including shift emails, incident tickets, installation information, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure all test environments and production servers are operational within specifications set forth by the owner department and/or service level agreement.
  • Follow documented procedures and guidelines related to monitoring systems and platforms, and maintain a deep understanding of how systems and platforms operate and interact.
  • Interface with users, other teams, and service providers to resolve problems and perform day-to-day operational tasks.
  • Maintain equipment inventory records and infrastructure topology documentation.
  • Occasionally required to perform shift work and/or may be required for on-call coverage and/or after-hours support.
Requirements
  • Good knowledge of networking equipment, including configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Windows systems and self-motivated, proactive individual able to work under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Good communication skills (English) and capacity to work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of related work experience.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server technologies.
  • Experience with database systems.
