Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Community Engagement Manager to join our team at Enbridge. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our community engagement efforts in the BC Region, building and maintaining relationships with Indigenous Nations and communities, and ensuring that our operations are socially responsible and sustainable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement community engagement strategies to support Enbridge's business objectives
  • Build and maintain relationships with Indigenous Nations and communities, including leading regulatory engagement and economic inclusion efforts
  • Provide support and services to new Business Development initiatives
  • Ensure optimal project management, including developing and implementing project plans and project budgets
  • Provide timely public affairs support, advice, and services to Enbridge BC Regional business to help them meet their strategic goals and objectives
  • Support the development of regulatory strategy and participate in formal regulatory processes in support of projects
  • Directly support engagement in the field with key Indigenous or community leaders, partners, Government representatives on high-profile issues and negotiations
  • Manage and coach the BC Regional Engagement team, made up of engagement advisors, coordinators, and contractors
Requirements
  • University degree from a related post-secondary program and/or combination of education and work experience
  • 10 or more years of directly related work experience in Indigenous or partner engagement, preferably in the resources sector, particularly in the energy industry/energy transportation infrastructure sector
  • Experience in leading and mentoring a team of engagement professionals
  • Familiarity with applicable government and regulatory requirements, as well as present-day issues and community dynamics
  • Experience in and understanding of a large, public company with operations in multiple regions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preference may be given to a candidate who identifies as Indigenous (First Nations, Metis, Inuit)
  • Speaking French or an Indigenous language is an asset
Working Conditions
  • Office environment with frequent travel into communities with the region

  • Decentralized team and operation
  • Attends after-hours Indigenous and community events on personal and business time throughout the year
