Senior Marine Safety Specialist

Job SummaryWe seek an experienced HSQE Specialist to join our team, working collaboratively with the HSQE team and Operations department. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting H&S functions, promoting a vibrant safety culture, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide guidance on developing and implementing H&S policies and procedures.
- Identify H&S risks, recommending changes to internal and external safety practices.
- Conduct incident investigations, providing data to create preventative measures.
- Manage claim documentation for underwriting incidents.
- Facilitate company safety standards and annual objectives with ORM and Operations.
- Perform internal and external audits, providing recommendations for corrective findings.
- Lead high-level operational risk assessments.
- Onboard new hires, providing training and orientation.
- Implement programs promoting crew wellbeing.
- Occasionally provide safety training, including First Aid & CPR, Confined Space Entry, and Fall protection.
- Visit company vessels to evaluate H&S measures.
- Degree or Diploma in H&S or a related field.
- Five years of experience in industrial or transportation industries.
- Knowledge of federal health and safety regulatory requirements.
- Ability to interpret and apply regulatory standards to the marine industry.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Certified trainer or experience in providing training, such as First Aid & CPR, considered an asset.
- Auditing capabilities in the federal HSE environment considered an asset.
- Experience in the marine industry is considered an asset.
- Burlington head office with some travel to company vessels and warehouse(s).
- Additional hours may be required based on operational demand.
- Hybrid work schedule upon successful completion of onboarding.
