Job Description

Overview

Glasslake is a rapidly growing mortgage lender with a strong presence in Canada. We are seeking a seasoned Associate, Underwriting Commercial to join our team in the Toronto office.

This is an individual contributor role that requires a high level of expertise in commercial lending. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating the creditworthiness of borrowers, analyzing financial information, and making informed underwriting decisions.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. They will also have a strong understanding of commercial lending principles, including credit analysis, risk management, and loan structuring.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth reviews of financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant documents to assess creditworthiness.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with lenders, brokers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth loan processing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate risks associated with commercial loans.
  • Prepare and present underwriting recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices in commercial lending.

Qualifications

  • At least 5-8 years of experience in commercial underwriting, financial analysis, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field.
  • Formal credit or commercial loan training and some previous credit decisioning experience.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial lending principles, including credit analysis, risk management, and loan structuring.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
