About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our Mental Health and Addictions Program at the Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in the planning, development, and provision of mental health services to clients enrolled in our Beacon Program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide case management and mental health services to clients, including psychosocial assessments, functional assessments, and diagnostic impressions.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, monitor individual clinical outcomes, and make case management decisions.
  • Implement and facilitate groups, and develop and implement discharge plans.
  • Link clients to agencies, services, and programs as indicated.
  • Document accurate, concise, and current clinical notes according to professional standards.

About You:

  • You are a graduate of an accredited University Program in Occupational Therapy.
  • You are eligible for membership in the Canadian Occupational Therapy Association.
  • You are eligible for registration to practice Occupational Therapy in Nova Scotia.
  • You have a minimum of three years of experience in Occupational Therapy, with a focus on clients in an Addiction and Mental Health setting.
  • You have experience in developing collaborative partnerships and initiatives with other agencies and community stakeholders.
  • You have experience working in a community-based setting.
  • You have a demonstrated working knowledge of community-based population health approaches.
  • You have the ability to provide effective Addiction and Mental Health/Occupational Therapy assessments.
  • You are committed to pursuing continuing education to maintain or enhance your professional knowledge.
  • You are committed to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health.
  • You have excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with patients/residents, families, other healthcare providers, and staff.
  • You have the ability to demonstrate sound judgment and initiative.
  • You have the physical and mental capabilities to perform the duties of the position, including working flexible hours, dealing with stressful situations, working alone in a satellite office, and traveling/working at other areas as required.
