The Royal Avenue Withdrawal Management Site is a state-of-the-art facility, one of two community-based medical withdrawal management facilities in Kelowna. With a capacity to support over 400 admissions annually, this facility offers an excellent opportunity for an Addiction Medicine Physician to make a meaningful impact in the lives of patients struggling with addiction.
Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Medical Director for Addiction Medicine to join our team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with Licensed Practical Nurses, Withdrawal Management Workers, and Recovery Care Workers to provide comprehensive care to patients admitted to the facility.
Duties and Responsibilities- Prescribe medications for the management of withdrawal, including controlled medications such as methadone, slow release oral morphine, buprenorphine/naloxone, benzodiazepines, etc.
- Provide medical consultation and develop treatment plans for patients admitted to the facility, including prescribing, monitoring, and reviewing patients' home medications.
- Provide discharge planning and approval for each patient.
- Maintain clinical records as part of indirect patient care.
- Act as a medical consultant to facility and medical staff.
- Participate in the evaluation of the efficiency, quality, and delivery of services, including participation in medical audits, peer and interdisciplinary reviews, chart reviews, and incident report reviews.
- Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) License - Full (Mandatory)
- Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) (Mandatory)
- Possession of ISAM (International Society of Addiction) certification and/or certificate of added competence in addiction medicine from the College of Family Physicians is preferred.
