Job Description

This exciting opportunity offers the chance to manage annual electrical work and oversee the delivery of high-quality services to internal and external clients. As the Senior Electrical Engineer, you will establish and implement technical specifications, standards, and processes, ensuring seamless execution of projects.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of electrical engineers in achieving strategic objectives and improving services related to the city's electrical infrastructure.
  • Assist in prioritizing and executing the electrical infrastructure capital plan (approximately $4 million annually).
  • Develop and maintain asset management strategies and plans for all electrical infrastructure.
Operations Management:
  • Assist in managing operating budgets.
  • Ensure timely execution of work plans to fully utilize annual capital allocations.
  • Develop budget requests that align with asset management principles and city priorities.
Human Resources:
  • Oversee and direct exempt and unionized staff.
  • Implement quality control processes for services provided by the electrical design section.
  • Maintain adherence to fair and consistent practices in alignment with collective agreements and city-wide policies.
Programs and Work Plans:
  • Develop and implement program work plans.
  • Collaborate with other branches to provide resources for design/review and construction services.
  • Direct the delivery of electrical capital projects.
Safety and Training:
  • Establish and enforce safety programs and standards.
  • Set and track operational performance goals and metrics.
  • Identify industry best practices in electrical design specifications and program delivery.

Estimated Salary: $123,531 - $153,659 per year

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a Professional Engineer designation and at least 6 years of experience in a similar role. Experience managing staff and HR issues in a unionized environment is preferred. Registration or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia is mandatory.
