The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Resource Pool team at the IWK Health Centre. As a Resource Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Reporting to the Manager, Emergency Care, you will be accountable for the application of current theory and research in the delivery of family-centered patient care. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide care to patients in the Emergency Department, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and Pediatric Medical Unit.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to children and families in a variety of settings
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Participate in unit-specific orientations and training programs to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Work effectively in a rotating schedule, including evenings, nights, and weekends
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and colleagues
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing and currently registered or eligible to become registered with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing
  • Minimum one year experience in pediatric nursing, with a focus on emergency and critical care
  • Current successful completion of a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Life Support Level (BLS) Program
  • Excellent flexibility, collaboration, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, including clinical judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making
