Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital (OSMH) is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Mental Health Services team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide direct psychiatric nursing care, develop and implement care plans, and lead by example in accordance with our hospital's mission, vision, and values.
Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership in the provision of nursing services in the Emergency Department and/or Acute Mental Health In-Patient Unit, demonstrating expertise in crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and psychosocial rehabilitation.
- Assess patient condition and needs, developing and implementing therapeutic patient treatment/care/discharge plans in collaboration with patients, families, and inter-professional teams.
- Develop a therapeutic nurse-patient relationship, utilizing nursing and other theoretical frameworks to promote patient-centered care and community reintegration.
- Participate in quality improvement activities, contributing to a safe and therapeutic environment through awareness of College of Nurses of Ontario Standards and hospital policies.
- Minimum four (4) years progressive psychiatric nursing experience within an acute care environment.
- Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certificate.
- Knowledge of the principles of psychiatric nursing, crisis intervention model, and the Mental Health Act.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with patients, families, and inter-professional teams.
