Job Overview

The Salvation Army is seeking a skilled and compassionate Community Programs Director to lead our community initiatives. This role requires exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and a passion for serving others.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide visionary leadership to our community programs, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of families served by The Salvation Army.
- Oversee all business and program matters, including finance, funding contracts, service delivery, property management, legal affairs, information technology, and employee relations.
- Develop and implement effective strategies to enhance capacity, accountability, effectiveness, and relevance in our community programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in a related field of study, such as social services or non-profit management.
- Current First Aid/CPR Certification and Non-violent Crisis Intervention and Prevention Certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

Experience and Skills Requirements:

- A minimum of four years of experience in specialized social service programs, supervision/management, and working with marginalized clientele.
- Valid Ontario Class 'G' driver's license with access to a personal vehicle and proof of valid insurance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Experience in planning and managing successful community development initiatives, particularly those involving multiagency collaboration in the non-profit sector is preferred.

- Strong commitment to service excellence, with sound knowledge of financial management, human resource management, and leadership principles as they relate to non-profit organizations.
- Ability to lead, coach, inspire, and motivate teams to reach their full potential, enhancing organizational effectiveness.
- Effective analytical, problem-solving, and evaluation skills, with the ability to investigate and initiate corrective action to successfully resolve problems, issues, and conflict.
- Competency in making and implementing effective decisions with strong organizational, interpersonal, time management, and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Demonstrated understanding of, and compliance with, all relevant federal and provincial legislation, e.g., the Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Act, Occupational Health and Safety, WHIMIS, Ministry of Labour, etc.
- Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion.
