Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Infection Prevention and Control Lead to join our team at Tri-County Mennonite Homes. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Infection Prevention and Control program across all sites, promoting interdisciplinary health management, and developing and delivering education on Infection Prevention and Control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Management
    • Manage the Infection Prevention and Control program across all sites, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to prevent and control infections.
    • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement.
  • Education and Training
    • Develop and deliver education programs on Infection Prevention and Control for staff, residents, and visitors.
    • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and implement education strategies.
    • Provide coaching and mentoring to staff on Infection Prevention and Control practices.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate effectively with staff, residents, and visitors on Infection Prevention and Control practices and policies.
    • Collaborate with the Local Public Health Unit, IPAC hubs, and other healthcare facilities to share best practices and stay up-to-date on industry developments.
    • Participate in the leadership team to understand, influence, and integrate programs consistent with TCMH's Accountability Framework.
  • Quality Improvement
    • Continuously evaluate and improve the Infection Prevention and Control program, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
    • Monitor and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
    • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to reduce the incidence of infections and outbreaks.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Post-secondary degree in a relevant health science or related discipline.
    • Registered Practical Nurse is preferred.
  • Experience
    • Minimum 1 year of recent experience in long-term care in Infection Prevention and Control.
  • Certifications
    • Current registration with the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, or willingness to obtain.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines. The candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The candidate must also be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
