Job Summary

This is a hybrid position for a Senior DevOps Engineer located in Ottawa, ON with 3 days in the office. As a DevOps Engineer, you will engage in both Engineering and Operations activities and deliver high-quality applications to production.

You will be responsible for optimizing application infrastructure, socializing designs with the team, implementing code in a timely fashion, reviewing other developers' code, and providing documentation as needed.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Socialize designs: Share your ideas with the team and integrate their suggestions and changes as appropriate.
  2. Implement code: Write high-quality, efficient code in a timely fashion, consistent with our group standards.
  3. Review code: Evaluate the quality of code submitted by other developers.
  4. Unit testing: Test software components to ensure module-level functionality and data structure consistency.
  5. Documentation: Provide necessary documentation, including design documents, comments in code, and end-user documentation.
Key Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must have exceptional knowledge of automation practices and software development skills. You should also possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5-7+ years of experience with builds, tools, development, and software lifecycle management processes.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows administration and user management.
  • Proficiency in cloud computing and virtualization technologies.
  • Ability to think in a cloud services manner.
  • Experience with orchestration toolsets.
  • Understanding of operational concepts like change management, on-call rotations, escalations, uptime, etc.
