About the Role

The Government of Prince Edward Island is seeking a skilled Plumbing and Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our Housing Services team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of various buildings across the province.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of plumbing and mechanical repair requests, determining the most effective solutions while adhering to relevant codes and regulations.
  • Utilize blueprints and building specifications to accurately plan pipe layouts, drainage systems, and other plumbing components.
  • Install a range of plumbing fixtures, including sinks, toilets, and water heaters, ensuring proper connections for various liquids and gases.
  • Collaborate with contractors and tradespeople to effectively install and repair complex plumbing systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve plumbing system issues, replacing worn or faulty parts as needed, always maintaining compliance with industry standards.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance checks on essential building systems such as boilers, sump pumps, and water softeners.
  • Maintain accurate records of materials used for repairs and ensure timely reporting on work orders.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by promptly addressing tenant concerns and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
