Plumbing Maintenance Technician

The primary objective of this role is to ensure the effective upkeep of plumbing and mechanical systems, as well as the structural and aesthetic aspects of various facilities managed by Housing Services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate plumbing or mechanical repair requests and determine the best approach to address the issue while adhering to relevant codes and regulations.
- Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to design layouts for plumbing systems, including pipes and drainage.
- Install plumbing fixtures such as sinks and toilets for various fluids including water and steam.
- Assemble and install fittings and valves as required.
- Adjust the length of pipes and fixtures as necessary.
- Set up heating and air conditioning systems, including water heaters.
- Collaborate with contractors and tradespeople to install and repair plumbing systems.
- Diagnose plumbing system issues and perform repairs or replace defective components in compliance with regulations.
- Conduct inspections of building systems, including boilers and sump pumps.
- Assess problems and select appropriate tools and materials for repairs.
- Document issues and actions taken in detailed reports.
- Maintain accurate records of materials and supplies utilized during work, ensuring proper reporting on work orders.
- Review and approve invoices and work orders within established authority guidelines.
- Address tenant-reported issues efficiently, minimizing disruption and responding respectfully and promptly.
- Assist other Housing Services personnel with general maintenance tasks as needed.
- Perform additional duties related to building maintenance and repairs as required.
