The Government of Prince Edward Island is seeking a skilled Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment and systems in our buildings.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and prioritize requests for electrical or mechanical repairs/renovations.
- Maintain and repair test fire alarm systems, HVAC systems, fire sprinkler systems, and other critical infrastructure.
- Repair or replace outdated electrical service/equipment to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
- Maintain, repair, and test emergency power systems, generators, transfer switches, emergency lighting, and other critical systems.
- Replace defective parts and consult with tenants to arrange for most appropriate times for completing work assignments.
- Operate grounds keeping tools, including chain saws, shovels, rakes, post hole diggers, and other equipment.
- Unload pallets of supplies and assist other trades with assigned duties, such as plumbing and carpentry.
- Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules for buildings and prepare specifications and tender packages for awarding tenders.
- Inspect quality of work and provide feedback to contractors and complete estimates of time and materials required for job assignments and record keeping.
- Reconcile purchase requisitions with delivery invoices and perform other duties as required in the course of building repairs and maintenance.
