Job Title: Principal Hardware Designer

Job Summary:

Sanmina Corporation is seeking a Principal Hardware Designer to join our design engineering group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the design of optical transceivers from concept to pre-production, including schematic capture, circuit simulation, PCB design guidance, and design verification testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design of optical transceivers, meeting customer specifications from concept to pre-production.
  • Contribute to the development of test and measurement modules, 4&5G macro frequency variants, optical transceivers, and optical sub-assemblies.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, optical engineers, microelectronics engineers, firmware engineers, process engineers, and test engineers to ensure design requirements are met.
  • Maintain documentation of hardware design specifications and ensure design for performance, manufacturability, and cost.
  • Interface with program managers, buyers/planners, and suppliers to ensure designed parts are available in a timely manner for build.
  • Work with the rel-qual compliance group to design fully compliant optical transceivers.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers.

Requirements:

  • Strong analog and digital circuit design skills and layout with mixed signal designs.
  • Knowledge of transceiver electrical design issues, including high-speed signal integrity, crosstalk, power noise, and loss soft start, ESD, testing, etc.
  • Strong laboratory optical and electrical measurement skills.
  • Experience with electronics CAD tools and electronic system modeling.
  • Understanding of micro-controller and communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, MDIO, and real-time control firmware.
  • Strong background in digital communication theory.

Assets:

  • Experience in RF design using modeling tools such as CST or HFSS.
  • Experience of full previous optical transceiver design cycle.
  • Work experience with optical components.
  • Experience with optical transceiver test methodologies.
  • Knowledge of various optical transceivers in CWDM and DWDM networks.
