Job Title: Principal Hardware Designer for Optical Transceivers

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Hardware Designer to join our team at Sanmina Corporation. As a key member of our design engineering group, you will be responsible for the development of optical transceivers, from concept to pre-production. Your expertise in electrical and optical design, as well as your knowledge of transceiver electrical design issues, will be crucial in ensuring the success of our projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design of optical transceivers, meeting customer specifications and ensuring compliance with electrical and optical requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, optical engineers, microelectronics engineers, firmware engineers, process engineers, and test engineers.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of hardware design specifications, including BOMs and ECOs.
  • Ensure design for performance, manufacturability, and cost.
  • Interface with suppliers to ensure timely availability of designed parts.
  • Work with the rel-qual compliance group to design fully compliant optical transceivers.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers.

Requirements:

  • Strong analog and digital circuit design skills and layout with mixed signal designs.
  • Knowledge of transceiver electrical design issues, including high-speed signal integrity, crosstalk, power noise, and loss soft start.
  • Strong laboratory optical and electrical measurement skills.
  • Experience with electronics CAD tools and electronic system modeling.
  • Understanding of micro-controller and communication protocols, such as SPI, I2C, MDIO, and real-time control firmware.
  • Strong background in digital communication theory.

Assets:

  • Experience in RF design using modeling tools such as CST or HFSS.
  • Previous experience with optical transceiver design cycles.
  • Work experience with optical components.
  • Knowledge of various optical transceivers in CWDM and DWDM networks.
