Key Responsibilities

The Manager, Surgical Scheduling and Optimization, will be responsible for finalizing daily OR schedules, optimizing OR time, and analyzing waitlist data to ensure alignment with Ministry of Health waitlist management policies and priorities.

Key Accountabilities
  • Finalize all daily OR schedules across Vancouver Acute sites, including Private Centres
  • Oversee reallocation of OR time to maximize utilization and efficiency
  • Manage the Vancouver Acute OR Booking Team and supervise the OR scheduling work of booking clerks at VGH, UBCH, ECC, and Private Centres
  • Ensure alignment across Vancouver Acute CoC to MoH waitlist management priorities and regional initiatives
  • Streamline site-specific work by understanding operations at each surgical site within the Vancouver Acute CoC
  • Maintain transparent and effective communication between the surgical program and providers/MOAs
  • Oversee SPR error correction and waitlist cleanup processes at site-level to ensure accurate reporting to MoH
  • Provide supervisor, leadership, and guidance to designated staff using effective management techniques
  • Develop and provide education and training to Surgeon Offices and staff to improve their understanding of surgical strategy, volume activity, and new initiatives
  • Liaise and coordinate with other VCH sites in the areas of waitlist management priorities and initiatives
  • Assist the Director(s) in identifying strategic issues and directions as related to OR slate booking
  • Maintain an awareness of current surgical trends and issues through literature review, contact with peers at other organizations, attendance at conferences, seminars, and educational programs
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Master's in Health Administration, Business Administration, or a related field, with five years of recent, related experience in a healthcare environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

The candidate will also possess comprehensive knowledge of healthcare administration, including strategic and operational planning, and demonstrated skills in budgetary development, finance, and information analysis.

Additionally, the candidate will have demonstrated leadership qualities, effective interpersonal skills, and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary environment.
